Daniel Padilla rocks at the Lily's Peanut Butterrific University Fun Day

Just like Lily’s Peanut Butter, people can’t get enough of Daniel Padilla. Lily’s Peanut Butter and Daniel Padilla really do knows how to rock the crowd.  Lily’s goes all out anew with its Lily's Peanut Butterrific University Fun Day. This event was held last February 22, 2015 from 11am to 7pm at the Market Market Activity Center.

Over the past 60 years, Lily’s Peanut Butter has grown to be a traditional staple of Filipino households. After many years of product excellence, the brand launched a huge campaign last year that brought the mother-and-son tandem of Daniel Padilla and Karla Estrada as endorsers.
The campaign is all about the bond people share whenever they experience a love nawalangkatulad. A love that will make you say, “Ikawlangtalaga."

It was truly an exciting day as there were interactive booths and fun-filled activities which entertained the crowd audience. Along with this was the successful Cook Off with 2 celebrity chefs, Boy Logro and Victor Neri, which got everyone excited as the five (5) schools battled it out in two (2) rounds of cooking. They came up with original savoury and sweet dishes using any of the Lily's products. Grand prize winners and other participants enjoyed cash and gift prizes. The highlight of the day was the Meet and Greet with Daniel Padilla in the late afternoon.

The pioneering name in the industry that has become synonymous with taste and quality and made with all-natural ingredients, Lily’s Peanut butter has a distinct sweet-creamy taste well-loved by Filipinos. With such, it has evolved from more than just a bread spread to a key ingredient in many dishes. Yes, many dishes because Lily’s Peanut Butter goes well not just with the usual Kare-Kare but also with the likes of a Pan Grilled Deboned Chicken with Lily’s Peanut Butter Chutney, as shown in the cooking demo! The list can go from appetizers, main dishes, desserts to drinks and this is why everyone agrees, that the brand is like no other…“Ikaw lang talaga, Lily’s.”

Cordlife launches newly upgraded stem cell facility for Filipino families

I first heard and encounter Cordlife three years ago and from that time they had been a part of many families life. When a mom becomes, pregnant; Cordlife has been a top of the mind thing because it signifies security for their children. Cordlife recently made a break though with their facility

-           New facility features separate isolated processing rooms for cord blood and cord lining, the first and only such facility in the Philippines.
-           The facility is designed with cryogenic storage capacity for as many as 30,000 cord blood/cord lining units.

Cordlife Medical Philippines Inc (“Cordlife” or the “Company”), a fully owned subsidiary of Cordlife Group Limited, a Singapore Exchange mainboard listed consumer healthcare company catering to the mother and child segment, announced the opening of their newly upgraded stem cell processing and cryopreservation facility at UP-Ayalaland Technohub, Quezon City. This expansion came less than 5 years from the opening of its facility in the country and was mainly driven by the growing number of parents who recognize the value of banking their baby’s stem cells in the country.

Cord blood, a new hope for Leukemia

Whenever I saw or read news about children being abuse or neglected, my heart ache for them. As a mom I wonder how could these people neglect their children when I just want to give my own life just to save my child. Recently, I found out that I am not alone with this endevour of making sure that my children would be safe and free because a video of a mother from Quebec fighting against leukemia recently went viral in YouTube. Her desperate plea – to find a compatible umbilical cord donor, the only hope for her second battle against leukemia[i].

Mai Duong, a 34-year-old Vietnamese-Canadian mother is among the many patients diagnosed of cancer every four minutes. Leukemia - cancer of the body’s tissues that are responsible for forming blood including bone marrow and lymphatic system is among the top eight common cancers in the Philippines.

In 2005, the Philippine Cancer Society recorded 4,202 new cases, 2,243 of which is among males with 3.9 percent incidence rate while 1,959 cases were recorded among females with an incidence rate of 3.6 percent. With an average 5-year survival rate of only 25 percent, an estimated 3,498 deaths are expected with 1,863 in men and 1,635 among women[ii].
Normally, the body produces and grows the white blood cells in an orderly way. But for people with leukemia, their bone marrow produces white blood cells that are abnormal either in number or function.

Your baby’s precious CORD blood can save his precious life

We are called mom, mommy, mama, inay, nanang but it only describe one thing, we are mothers. As mothers, you will do anything for your child.  Even way before they are brought into this world, your instincts kick in and you tirelessly worry about your baby.  You want to learn everything there is to learn and more importantly, you want to protect them from anything and everything that can harm them be it the common cold or a fever; and if you had your way, you would gladly get sick for your child.  And your anxiety is not without reason, since there are many childhood diseases that can be harmful or even fatal to children.

Leukemia is perhaps the most common type of cancer compromising 47.8% of all childhood cancers1.  Hodgkin’s Disease1 or non-Hodgkin Lymphoma is the third childhood cancer comprising 9% of childhood cancer.  Aside from these types of cancers, certain brain disorders are also common in children. These include cerebral palsy and neuroblastoma.  Cerebral palsy severely impairs the development of the motor functions and afflicts 1-2 percent of the Philippine population2.  Neuroblastoma, on the other hand, causes the sufferer to lose the ability to empty the bladder, experience paralysis of the hips, feet, legs and uncontrolled movement.

Research into the use of cord blood and cord lining stem cells have been ongoing since the 1980s and has shown promise of saving lives and treating life-threatening diseases.  More than 30,000 cord blood stem cell transplants3 have already been performed since 1988.

Precious Lara, Niña and Delamar reveal priceless gifts to their children

A mother can be simple or can be a star or she can be anything in this world , but at the end of the day, she is just a mother who loves her children dearly.  We moms are born to be protective of our children, that is why we go all the way when it comes to our children. We prepare things and secure our children’s future in the best way we can.  I just like any celebrities do and decide to take things in our hand just to make sure that we protect our children just like celebrities Precious Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz, Niña Corpuz-Rodriguez and Delamar Arias, we all share one thing in common with every other mom out there – the desire to protect and secure their child’s future. All three are also among the growing number of mothers who have made the life-saving decision to bank their children’s umbilical stem cells. And they came out to share why they made this choice during the recently-held launching of Cordlife’s new and bigger facility at the Crowne Plaza last 18 November

2014, hoping to inspire other expectant parents to follow suit.

“I’ve come to terms with the fact that many things can happen to Cooper in the future, both good and bad like getting seriously ill. I want to make sure that I’ve done my part in guaranteeing that Cooper has the best way to cope. And since there are so many advances in cord blood banking and the service is already made available and affordable here in the Philippines through Cordlife, I just had to get it for both my children,” Arias said.
“Having found out that Cordlife is a recognized expert in the cord blood banking industry, with proven track record for successful release, I knew I found a reliable partner in providing a lifetime of protection for Noah. It gives me a sense of security and peace of mind, knowing that I am investing in Noah’s future. I’m glad I was able to seize the one chance to store my baby’s precious cord blood that he could use years from now should there be a need.” said Lara Quigaman, former beauty queen and actress.
“As a health and wellness advocate, I get to talk to a lot of experts and most of them vouch for Cordlife. It's the name. It's the brand. It's tried and tested. It's something that has been there for a long time. I trust the experts that I talk to and I know that I made the best decision to bank my baby’s umbilical stem cells with Cordlife,” Nina Corpuz, Broadcast journalist said.

Metascreen, a guard against ‘sudden death’

As mom, our children are the most important treasure in our life. When we all the necessary precautions from the time that we find out that we are pregnant up to the time of giving birth.  Now a days, with all the diseases that are being discover, we need to make sure that our babies are safe and well because nearly one baby every hour each day dies abruptly. An estimated 7,000 babies die each year without warning.

Parents are left clueless after the death as the possible causes remain unknown even after undergoing autopsy. All because of the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
SIDS is the unexplained death of babies usually occurring during sleep and striking under unexpected circumstances.

Even a healthy one-year old baby may be a victim of the condition which is often simply attributed to physical and environmental factors.
Studies have shown that babies with physical conditions including brain abnormalities, low birth weight and respiratory infection have higher risk of dying an unexplained death.
Still some studies indicated that an infant’s sleeping position may also be a cause. Babies sleeping on their stomach side are more prone as they may suffer more difficulty in breathing. Those sleeping on soft surfaces and with their parents are also at risk.
To address the problem, various newborn screening tests are being employed as a means of identifying inborn disorders. For instance, dried blood spot screening, usually available in hospitals, can effectively screen the newborn of many metabolic disorders.
This type of screening, however, can only detect less than 50 metabolic disorders.
