When you think of prison, what would be the first thing that would come to your mind, yeah right bars?
Well New Bilibid Prison is more than bars in every sense of the word. I believe that there’s always goodness in the hearth of man and you just have to see it behind bars.
Last week, I was able to visit the New Bilibid Prison and this time; it’s the maximum security prison.
Others might say, “ Ang lakas ng loob mo para pumasok dun”, but then again they are not me. Upon entrance, the security search for things like cellphone for in Bilibid, these are called contraband and no one is allowed to enter with it.
We were there to witness the grand finals or the face of the iron bar chef challenge but more that , I was fascinated by the talents that was shown by the inmates.
There are performing talents inside the New Bilibid Prison and here are some of the videos that I took to show you how talented they are.
These activities are part of the reformation program by BuRoc Director Gaudencio Pangilinan
BuCor’s six imperatives of Reformation
1. Health Care Program
2. Education and Skills Development
3. Livelihood and Livelihood Training
4. Moral and Spiritual Enlightenment
5. Sports and Recreational Program
6. Behavioral Modification
There are so much to be done and everything starts with in us, let’s not waste all the efforts that the government are doing to reform the inmates, for they too are people. Yes , it would be hard but let’s start one step at a time for the betterment of not only the inmates but their families as well.
