LBC donates trash bins to LGUs

When it comes to sending and receiving packages nationwide, LBC has been our forwarder for 5 years now. Weather it’s an Airfrieght or Seafreight, pick up or on site, we always relay on LBC on it’s timely delivery.  With it’s tag line “ Hari Ng Padala, LBC has been a reliable partner of our company.

Now, LBC has another challenge. LBC challenged its customers to return 5,000 used LBC pouches and in return, LBC will donate 500 trash bins to help the solid waste management efforts of LGUs. This pledge also marked the launch of LBC’s on-going campaign to retrieve used LBC pouches which are sent to LBC’s recycling facility in Matuod, Batangas where they are dried, shredded and molded to create brick pavers.

“Metro Manila has been experiencing severe flooding like never before. We realize the need to be part of the solution rather than just reacting and aiding in the collection and distribution of relief goods when disaster strikes.” said LBC Foundation Operations Head Nena Wuthrich.

LBC Foundation enlisted the help of Project Rainbow to source, design, paint & organize the distribution of 501 trash bins to the LGUs in Manila, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasay, Quezon City, San Juan, and Taguig.
Bearing designs inspired by nature, these bins encourage people to dispose of their trash properly, to help save the environment. Labeled Plastik/Bote, Karton/Papel, and Latak, Atbp., the bins will be strategically placed in public places such as hospitals, parks, and schools.
Project Rainbow is an advocacy campaign to transform garbage consciousness to ecosystem consciousness through collective action, in response to flooding and displacement caused by growing pollution and climate change.
“We are honored to be part of this campaign that shows how companies and its customers can work hand-in-hand for a good cause. We thank all our customers who returned their used pouches for our recycling efforts and all those who continue to do so.” said LBC Foundation President Monica Araneta.
The trash bins were turned over to the LGUs at the Earthdance Manila 2013, an annual event promoting solidarity for peace and mother earth. It was graced by Manila Mayor and former President Joseph Estrada, Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos, Marikina City Mayor Del de Guzman, Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez and Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano.

LBC’s support in the I Will If You Will campaign shows that no single act is too small to help preserve and protect the environment.
