Whether it’s in the province or in the city, I use
to play outside our home with the other kids. The “Piko” Taguan, Tumbang Preso
are the games that taught us what strategy is all about. There’ the holen games
which taught us how to concentrate. There are games that you need to learn
about teamwork and proper coordination to win.
This cherish memories are part of my childhood, a childhood that seems
to be neglected by myself to impart to my kids.
This is a lesson that I learned when I attended a campaign launch held
last February 2013, at Palm Grove, Rockwell Makati. “Di Lang Laro ang Laro” was
launched in partnership with Department of Education, Play Pilipinas and
Johnson and Johnson Philippines. The campaign advocates the role of 1 hour of
daily active play in children’s health and holistic development.
Department
of Education support this advocacy because they
believe that children can also learn skills and values outside the classroom
Play Pilipinas, a local NGO dedicated to promoting a children's righs to play, conducted a Rediscovery workshop where the guest were able to experience playing the games they used to play when they were growing up. Looking back to our childhood days to be convinced of how free play is a learning tool, helping us discover our capacities.
The campaign also responds to a need surfaced by a study commissioned by Johnson and Johnson Philippines where mothers with four to nine year old kids in GMA acknowledged that while they know the value of physical activity for their kids, they inadvertently end up encouraging study time while discouraging play time

Representative from UNICEF, Play Pilipinas, DepED, Johnson and Johnson value the power of play |
The launch was hosted by Kuya Bodjie with fellow advocate Barbie Almabis serenaded
the guest with her rendition of the classic Apo Hiking Society song “ Bawat
Bata. It was also the first time that the campaign advocacy TVC which feature
Bro. Armin Luisito was shown to the public.
Finally, Lets play with our Kids.
