The Absolute Mom Awards Launches the Flood of Love Campaign

Absolute Distilled Water recognizes once again four absolutely exceptional moms on its second Absolute Mom Awards. Chosen based on their achievements as mothers, women, advocates, and individuals, the outstanding women were joined by Honorary Mom Awardee and Absolute Brand Ambassador, Judy Ann Santos, in recognition of their unwavering support for their families and their extended communities. Absolute donated P20,000 to each of the awardees’ chosen charities.

Christine Jacob-Sandejas is an Olympic swimmer, actress, TV host, and a hands-on mom to five lovely children aged 3-12. She is involved in the outreach efforts of Project Pearls in Ulingan, Tondo, a dumpsite. Project Pearls is extending its outreach to aid in the successful transition of 200 families relocated to Batia, Bulacan with the assistance of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Abbygale Arenas-de Leon, the Philippine representative to the 1997 Miss Universe Pageant, is a doting mother to a 12-year old son. Aside from stints with the Professional Models Association of the Philippines and the Philippine Society for Training and Development, she is the president of the Bravehearts Coalition of the Philippines and has been presented with the 2012 Pink Ribbon of Hope Award for her work on cervical cancer prevention.

Precious Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz is a multiple achiever, who has won awards such as People Asia Magazine’s People of the Year and the Presidential Order of Lakandula: Champion for Life in addition to her reign as 2005 Miss International Beauty. Aside from being a recent mother, she is involved with Joshua Care International, which reaches out to underprivileged children and their families through food, clothing, medical help, and education.

Liza Macuja-Elizalde is the country’s first prima ballerina, and the first foreign soloist to join the Kirov Ballet in 1984. Alongside being a mother to two children, she is the artistic director of Ballet Manila, vice-chairman of the Philippine UNESCO National Commission, and commissioner of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women. She helps underprivileged children with the same passion for dancing and ballet achieve their dreams through a dance scholarship program called Project Ballet Futures.
Says Abe Cipriano, Marketing Manager, Asia Brewery Inc., “Mothers make a difference in our lives every day, from the smallest acts at home, to the great projects that the Absolute Mom Awardees advocate. Inspired by the difference that these women – and that each mom – make, we decided to expand our efforts and give everyone an opportunity to make the world a cleaner and safer place.”

The Flood of Love

The Flood of Love campaign encourages everyone to make pledges for a cleaner, safer world through its website, www.floodoflove.org. To get the ball rolling, Absolute is putting up a water sanitation and hygiene system for Bayan Bayanan ng Ita, a community located in Sitio Pita, Bataan. Done in coordination with the Philippine Center for Water and Sanitation-ITN Foundation (PCWS-ITN) and the Touch a Heart Foundation, Core members of the community will be identified, and partnerships with local governments and non-government organizations will be tapped to ensure that the project is sustained for the long term.

The community is located in 31 hectares of hard-to-reach mountainous terrain, and is occupied by approximately 39 families. Because of its location, water is hard to come by – members have to go down a mountain to a river. Absolute is encouraging everyone to make a pledge and turn the trickle into a flood of love not just for this community, but for future locations that need it.

Each pledge Absolute receives will be matched by 1 glass or 250 ml of water, which will be donated to communities that are still in need of clean and safe water. With your help, Absolute can empower communities by providing training and low-cost technology for them to sustainably manage their water supply and sanitation systems.

“Absolute is committed to ensuring that clean and safe water is available to every Filipino. Each year, we donate Absolute Pure Distilled Drinking Water to select communities that need them, especially in times of calamities. This time, we want to involve everyone, and we are looking forward to the support that will make this Flood of Love into a groundswell for a cleaner, safer world,” stated Angelie Ong, Absolute Brand Manager.
