When Hiphop-blossomed in the Philippines in the early
1990’s, Lordivino "Deyb" Ignacio (aka. Bassilyo) is a part of the
great sounding rap group collectively known as Crazy as Pinoy.
At a young age, they fell in love with rap music. While
living in Marikina City, they would spend hours battle-rapping for fun. What
started out as a hobby that they used to pass the time, quickly evolved into an
irreplaceable outlet of self-expression and stress-relief.
They have cited influences from the late Francis Magalona,
with some of their work sounding a bit like Gloc-9, Chito Miranda of Parokya Ni
Edgar, Andrew E, Denmark, Mastaplann and numerous rap artist as inspiration to
name a few.
Their music moved to another level when they realized its
potential to reach the masses and its capacity to change and touch liver after
winning Jet Set Grand Champion of Year 2022, that time then they were known as “Triangulo”
and winning Eat Bulaga’s Rap Public of the Philippines Grand Champion in the
year 2002 under the group name as Crazy as Pinoy.
The continuous popularity of rap music convinced Eat Bulaga
to introduce a contest in 2002 called Rap-public of the Philippines which aims
to discover new talents. The first volume of Rap-public of the Philippines album
was then conceptualized and eventually the productions of hit songs like
“Panaginip” and “Huwad”.
In 2012, Basilyo joined FLIPTOP and became an instant hit.
He is a rap battle star in the making with over 10 million views backing him up
in YouTube. He also joined Homegrown Hip-hop compilation album, one of the best
hip-hop compilation albums ever released in the Philippines.
