Join the 2nd OFW & Family Summit of Villar Foundation & GoNegosyo
on Nov. 22
Raffle prizes such as a Camella house & lot, sari-sari
store packages, food carts up for grabs!
Helping out distressed overseas Filipino workers or OFWs has
always been topmost on the list of priorities and advocacies of the Villar
Foundation. And there is a good reason behind the Villars’ empathy and affinity
towards OFWs as well as their families.
The very first buyer of a house and lot from Villar-owned
Camella Homes was Mrs. Magtibay, the wife of an OFW, a seafarer in fact. So the
Villar couple—Senator Manny Villar and former Las Pinas Representative Cynthia
Villar—feel a debt of gratitude to OFWs and have since never stopped helping
them.
All of their efforts are centralized under their Sagip-OFW
program. They help repatriate OFWs, but they don’t stop there, they help
returning OFWs and their families to improve their lives here in the country.
In November last year, the Villar Foundation took their OFW
assistance program notches higher by organizing the ‘First OFW and Family
Summit: Kabuhayan Para sa Kinabukasan’ in partnership with GoNegosyo. Over
5,000 OFWs and their family members trooped to the World Trade
Center to attend talks
and seminars that would equip them with necessary know-how and adopt an
entrepreneurial mindset. There were also various booths that offer business
ideas and opportunities.
The Villar Foundation also raffled off a house and lot from
Camella Homes during the one-day summit, which will have a repeat in November.
Foresa Morada, a wife of an OFW from Quezon
City , was the lucky winner of the house and lot. She
tearfully shared that although her husband has been an OFW for many years, they
still don’t have a house of their own since they had to provide for their
children’s education first.
Recently, Mrs. Villar even visited Mrs. Morada’s new home at
the Tierra Nevada subdivision of Camella Homes in General Trias, Cavite. Her
children and grandchildren cannot stop expressing their gratitude to the Villar
Foundation for the blessing.
Various other raffle prizes, most of which are livelihood
opportunities will be raffled out on November 22. These include grocery items
from Puregold and Finds to start off a sari-sari store; motorcycle that can be
used for a tricycle; food carts from Kettle Korn and RFM; among many more.
OFWs and their families can also get business and investment
ideas from the exhibitors stalls such as Smart, AVON, Marikina Shoe Exchange,
Isuzu, Finds, Puregold among many more in the venue at the World Trade Center in Pasay
City .
