Over a
thousand dogs and their owners to scout, relax and gather in the games,
competitions and activities lined up for them in the first Doggy Day Camp last
Sunday at the Bonifacio Global City Ampitheatre courtesy of National Geographic
Channel (NGC) .
Free
massages and grooming services, getting Pedigree treats in the kibble buffet
set-up of Treats Café and mingling
with the other dogs in the open playground at the Wilderness Pupplay were some of the activities during the event sponsored
by Pedigree, the dogs enjoyed going around the campsite to rest in spots like Furrr-fect Grooming .
Meanwhile,
owners had the chance to learn valuable tips and tricks from world-renowned dog
behavior expert Cesar Millan during the special screening of the new season of
Dog Whisperer, which airs Wednesdays at 10PM on NGC.
This
was complemented by informational forums led by Born to be Wild host Ferdz Recio who explained how to properly feed
dogs and give them the right nutrition, Pawsitive Education resident
veterinarian Joy Uy who discussed the common behavioral issues of dogs, as well
as Philippine Animal Welfare Society’s May Angela Felix who shared the
responsibility of pet ownership.
The
star of GMA7’s primetime television show Aso
ni San Roque, Princess the dog, was also present in the festivities of the
Doggy Day Camp along with her co-stars and celebrity dog lovers Mona Louise
Rey, Gardo Versoza, Rich Asuncion, Ervic Vijandre and director Don Michael
Perez.
A
parade and mini agility race by Urban Sports K9 highlighted the dogs’
participation in the event. The Doggy Day Camp also put up a photo exhibit that
featured ten of the best submitted heroic dog feats across the country.
Overall,
NGC translated its advocacy to promote the importance of being responsible pet
owners through the talks and forums of the event. With the activities that
centered on the dogs and their owners’ needs, NGC’s first Doggy Day Camp
captured and developed a better companionship between man and his best friend.
