From the moment that we found out that we are pregnant,
it only follows that we plan what would be the best possible future we could
give to our children and that includes their education.
Just how can we give the best possible start up to our
child when it comes to education?
We all want our child to develop in their most convenient
way. Education is not all about counting and reading but truly exploring the
world around them in a creative way that would make them love learning.
As much as we want to stick the traditional way, there
are now alternative means for our children to be educated. Gone are the days
when we were just contented in the normal scenario enclosed in the four corners
of typical classrooms. Because of the fast technology that we are now in,
everything is moving forward just like the education that our children should
have.
Indeed, education is an investment. This is the foundation
of what our children will become and if we could give the best, why not take
the chance; there are progressive schools which offer convenience of both the
mom and the child.
Speaking of progressive, a new school would soon open its
doors to parents and their children; The SchoolRoom. Don’t be afraid to try
something new, it might be the one you are looking for.
The SchoolRoom advocates a progressive approach in
educating young children. But if you take into context the word, “progressive,”
many approaches come to mind as this is a rather general term.
The SchoolRoom’s curriculum is strengthened by zoning
into one particular approach called, “Developmentally Appropriate Practice” or
DAP for short.
DAP is a framework, based on research, on the best way
children develop and learn core skills that make them successful in big school
and in life. It is hands on, experiential, and exploratory. It focuses on the
child’s needs and cultural background while giving the same importance to his
or her academic and social development.
Early childhood learning is vital in the growth of any
individual and it is imperative to understand how to best approach learners to
better guide them as they learn and develop their skills.
The SchoolRoom offers programs that are developmentally
appropriate, integrating activities that are experiential, hands-on, and
engaging. Our curriculum is designed to synchronize the teaching method with
the ability and skill set of learners. It embodies a representative approach on
early childhood learning where it stimulates critical thinking, through play,
project-based activities, and centers.
What makes them different? Here are the things that I
have assessed upon talking to the persons behind The SchoolRoom:
1. Advocates providing high - quality early childhood
education using Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) through a
conscientiously planned curriculum.
2. Nurturing and qualified educators are dedicated to
fostering each child’s love for learning by providing meaningful experiences
with the intention of developing their five areas of child development
(physical, cognitive, social & emotional, language & literacy, and
sensory & motor development).
3. They value children, most especially their needs and
interests. The over-all development of children and their success in both
school and in life are their main priority
4. They value play as the medium of learning and
exploration for young children. Through play and a carefully planned
curriculum, children develop to become lifelong learners who are confident,
independent, and compassionate individuals.
