I have been to Marriot Hotel Manila several times
and it always amazing to see new concepts and I know that there are people
behind this happenings.
Marriott
Hotel Manila announces the appointment of Chris Dela Torre as new Director of
Convention Sales, focusing on Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and
Exhibitions (MICE). She will be responsible for driving new business both
domestic and international for the recently opened Marriott Grand Ballroom, the
country’s largest pillarless ballroom. Dela Torre has solid experience almost
spanning three decades in Sales and Marketing with a firm grasp on the MICE
industry. Through the years, she has received several prestigious awards. The
most noteworthy is the highly coveted Mabuhay Awards in 2003 - over-all
champion managerial category and the esteemed Eclipse Award from Hyatt
International.
Prior
joining Marriott Manila, she was the Assistant Vice President for Sales,
in-charge of Sales and Marketing of SM Hotels and Convention venues for 5
years. There she worked on top key sources in Asia Pacific to push for MICE
business in Manila. She started her career in 1986 as a guest services manager
and worked her way to the top and became the Director of Sales and Marketing at
Hyatt Regency Manila. In 2006, she landed an impressive position overseas as
the Director of Sales at Sheraton Grand Tai Ping Yang Shanghai. Wherein she
handled market research and administrative Sales management of catering,
corporate and travel accounts from Europe, Middle East and America.
Dela Torre’s
arrival is a strong indicator that Marriott Manila is securing its position to
be the premiere meeting destination in the country, especially with the newly
opened Marriott Grand Ballroom. The Philippines’ largest pillarless ballroom
boasts of almost 3,000 square meters of function space complemented with state
of the art technology featuring multi-colored and adjustable pillow lights,
high quality audio visual equipment, and sky fold technology. Aside from the main ballroom, there are also
28 versatile new meeting rooms to suit every event planner’s needs whether for
business or social. In addition to the meeting spaces are 3 new must-try dining
spots in the city – “Mian” noodle bar, “Crema” gourmet coffee shop and
“Allegro” grab and go organic snack bar.
