It was a good night , a night of fun, good company and good innovation  as Meralco recently launched the MeralcO Virtual Engine (MOVE) , a free app suite designed for Filipinos with six apps that provide round-the-clock access to the electric company’s services through smart phones or tablets.

A friend of mine asked me the other day as where can they take their Korean visitor for a tour. I suggested they go to Luneta and since they are there already why not go to Manila Ocean Park as well. After the recent devastation that the Habagat brought to the metro, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation (SEPCO) aided our countrymen badly affected by the floods by offering free usage of washing machines. For the whole month of August, Samsung washing machines were brought to the different barangays of  Marikina ,  San Juan and  Quezon City .

The Philippines , being a tropical country, experiences typhoons, tropical storms and monsoon rains almost all year long. An average of 20 typhoons hit the country every year. Five of the most destructive typhoons occurred between 2009 and 2012, according to the National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).  Climate change has brought about extreme weather and it looks like it is bound to get even worse. After the floods, the danger remains. Bacteria, fungi and viruses threaten to compromise the health of families, indoors or outdoors.
