Run for Road Safety to start at OneA Events Place on May 13
May 13 is an important date for runners, the family of the late professor-journalist Chit Simbulan, and those who advocate road safety. One person who will not miss the event is Alvin Carranza, the founder of MacGraphics Carranz and team manager of Pilipinas Teen Azkals. Aside from owning OneA Events Place, the run’s starting point, road safety—he says— has been one of his advocacies. He tells the bloggers on May 10 at the Café Lupe, “If we’re aware of what the government agencies, including U.N., has been doing, we’ll remember that each time we drive, we have to be more careful.” The recent statistics released by the World Bank last month states, “Currently, 1.3 million people are killed on the world’s roads each year and 90 percent of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, with an economic cost that can exceed total overseas aid flowing in.” Carranza adds, “Sa Pilipinas, hindi pa kasama yung sa probinsiya, nasa top 5 tayo sa may pinakamaraming road injuries.
